Volunteering on the board of local organization, Hack Nashville is an honor for me. I was happy to help them come up with some fun graphics for this weekend’s upcoming hackathon where developers come together to build applications in a fast-paced, weekend long competition. This weekend is Cinco de Mayo and incidentally, May 4th is “Star Wars Day”. So, it was only appropriate to depict a Chewbacca-like character with a sombrero and a wrench along with the slogan and badge artwork I developed. “Built in Nashville” is the slogan that encompasses what Hack Nashville is all about. The area is a hotbed for talented developers and these events provide a platform for displaying these skills as well as a way to strengthen the local developer network.
The concept for the badge was simple. I wanted to provide a badge of honor for the attendees to show proudly via swag which will come in the form of tshirts, iPhone cases, and other goodies at this weekend’s event. The original sketch was proposed and accepted amongst the board members and will adorn the swag to serve as a message to others that individuals attended and are affiliated with the organization as ‘an official hacker’ of Hack Nashville.
